If your sprinkler is not working as efficiently as it used to and you have run short of the ideas then make way for an inspection of your sprinkler line. A possible cause of the problem could be a leak in the line that is hampering the normal water supply to your sprinkler system.

In order to restore the normal condition of the sprinkler system, a proper remodeling of the sprinkler line needs to be undertaken.

Make way for all the essential plumbing tools and supplies such as screwdrivers, channel lock pliers, hacksaw, Teflon tape, PVC primer, PVC glue etc. While working on the copper pipes, replace the PVC primer and glue with the metal one.

Locate the main water valve or the individual control valve to shut off the water supply to the affected sprinkler system. The main water valve is normally situated either in the basement or on the sidewalk of the home. On the other hand the individual sprinkler valve lies adjacent to the sprinkler line or apparatus.

Walk down to the concerned site to explore the crack in the sprinkler line. Observe the size of the crack and mark down a tag line on each side of the crack leaving a margin of about two or three inches on either side. Use a tape to do so as a typical marker pen would not be visible on the pipe.

Take a hacksaw from the kit and start cutting the pipe from the predefined position. Place a large-sized container or bucket under the operation site to collect dripping water. Detach the affected length of the pipe completely from the fixture and take it down to a local plumbing store. Demand a pipe that has a similar width and quality as that of the old pipe.

Bind the connectors to the new length of the pipe with the help of PVC glue and let the fixture dry off. Make sure that the PVC glue is applied only on the areas where the pipe and the connectors are supposed to come in contact.

Be quick in your course of action as the glue dries very quickly. Once connectors are attached and glued well to the new pipe, insert the segment into the sprinkler line setup and apply some PVC primer on the junctures.
