The basketball season has had some interesting twists so far and many people have been off with their initial predictions to say the least. The Cavs and Lakers aren’t dominating their opponents, and I think I know the reasons. Let’s take a look at the best teams in the league to see where they’re at right now.

While it’s true that nothing right now is set in stone, I do believe that the early season results have happened for a reason and I think it all comes down to the presence of certain players on these teams.

As much as I believe that Shaquille O’Neal, Vince Carter, and Ron Artest are some incredibly talented players, I simply don’t think they’re the right fits for their teams. I think that each team is struggling to find its way with their new player, and hopefully they can adapt as the season progresses.

In the case of Ron Artest with the Lakers, I’m not quite sure if he’ll be good for the team. While he’s obviously an exceptional player, I think that he still has attitude and maturity issues to deal with.

I don’t believe that Ron Artest wins his team games. He’s a dramatic distraction to a team that had incredible chemistry.

Then there are the Cavs. Shaq is a different story than Artest, as he has a great attitude and wants to win. Unfortunately, I think he just throws off the team’s rhythm and his presence in the middle might not be so good for the team. Their record so far would indicate this too.

Vince Carter in Orlando brings me the same thoughts. He simply couldn’t win his team games in New Jersey, and I believe the Magic won’t be better off with him.

This leaves me with the Boston Celtics. Rasheed Wallace was a winner in Detroit, and will be the same in Boston. Therein lies the strongest team in the NBA, in my opinion.
