There are many things you can do in order to practice proper self defense and personal protection techniques. These things include learning, practice, being aware of your surroundings, and much more. These tips can help to keep you safe.
There are many avenues you can use to gather information and expertise when it comes to self defense. Consider taking a course on self defense at your local YMCA or maybe a martial arts center. You have to be prepared if you are ever confronted by an attacker. You can even purchase available self defense training videos. You can gain a lot of information from watching these and then practic9ing the techniques shown. You can progress at your own pace and start and stop when you want to.
The best thing you can do to stay safe is simple. Get into the habit of looking around as you are walking. It sounds simple but a lot of people keep their head down and do not look around. They have no idea of what is going on around them. That just spells “E-A-S-Y T-A-R-G-E-T” to a possible attacker. They know they can approach you and be on top of you before you know what has hit you! Walk with your head up and confidently. Don’t make it easy for an attacker. They will search for an easier target.
The last thing an attacker wants is to draw any kind of attention to what it is they are doing. If you ever find yourself being attacked you MUST go on the offensive immediately. The attacker will not be expecting that and it will throw them off balance. And, at the same time, yell and scream and make as much noise as is humanly possible. The attacker will not have been prepared for that type of reaction from you and will probably thinking “Eh, maybe I should get out of here and look for an easier target”.
Another easy, inexpensive thing you can do to protect yourself is to carry a self defense wepon on you at all times. You can choose from a canister of pepper spray, a stun gun, a TASER or a personal alarm. All of these can be effective in helping you avoid being attacked. A word of caution here, when you do buy a self defense product make sure you practice with it and always have it available. A canister of pepper spray buried in the bottom of a briefcase or purse will not do you any good. Get into the habit of having your personal protection device in your hand when you are in a situation that you feel could be dangerous.
There are many things that you can do to practice personal protection and be prepared to use self defense. If you come upon a situation where you need to use them you will be prepared and ready to defend yourself if you practice the techniques and become good, fight the attacker back, use personal protection devices, and more.
